Mhairi Davidson was born on 3rd May 1994 at the Vale of Level Hospital, the eldest of three children, to parents Keith and Penny.
She grew up in Helensburgh, attending Hermitage Primary and later Hermitage Academy.
She started fencing at the age of 10 with her father as her coach.
Scottish Fencing is the governing body of the sport of fencing in Scotland. Each year they hold a championship competition for school-aged children in Under 14, Under 16 and Over 16 age bands.
Mhairi was the Scottish Fencing Over-16 Girls Master-at-Arms (with the best score overall in each of the 3 fencing weapons) two years running. In her final year, she won Gold in each of the weapons.
She has fenced for Scotland in several team events, including representing Scotland in the UK Schools Games twice (and was a reserve on a 3rd occasion). Being part of the medal winning Women’s Epee team both times.
The Sainsbury’s 2012 School games was the last event to be held in the ExCel venue before the 2012 Olympics.
In Doric Open 2012 Mhairi won the silver in the Woman’s Epee.
Mhairi graduated from Hermitage Academy in June 2012 as is now studying at the University of Glasgow.
While not fencing, she is a keen musician, participating in several Helensburgh based musical groups. She was the Leader of Hermitage Academy’s Orchestra for 3 years. Also being involved in their Fiddlers, Recorder Group, Wind Band and several choirs.
She still volunteers to help with Hermitage Academy’s musical groups.
