Ambassadors – Sam Wilding

Sam Wilding/Damien Peck

Children’s author, writer and musician Sam Wilding grew up beside Loch Lomond on the very edge of the Scottish Highlands.

Having gained an honours degree in Zoology at Glasgow University, Sam has always maintained a strong interest in ecology and the environment.

As a musician, Sam became involved in song writing in the late 70’s and throughout the years has toured as a guitarist in the UK, Holland and America. He moved on from song writing to poetry, short stories and eventually on to his first novel, The Magic Scales, published in 2005, and the first in the Denthan series of children’s fantasy adventures featuring an asthmatic boy, James Peck, as its’ hero.

Sam has just released his latest book, the Eco-Thriller Windscape published by Strident Publishing, which explores the passions on both sides of the wind farm debate. Set in the beautiful fictitious location of Hushwish Bay, Windscape forms the first novel in Sam’s Island Adventures series.

In addition to his novels, Sam Wilding has authored a series of books, with animal and numeracy themes, aimed at 3 – 7 year olds – the Tiffy and Toffy picture books. With such wonderful titles as The squashed worm and bramble pie, And the Tower of Cheese and the Rat who couldn’t sleep these books are set to enchant and entertain children for generations to come.

Sam regularly tours Schools and Libraries across the UK giving ‘Just Imagine’ sessions, where he explores children’s own creativity and imagination.

Sam is currently finishing off the fourth book in Denthan series and is drafting the second in the Island Adventure series.

When he is not writing, touring or seeking to inspire a new generation of authors, Sam champions the work of the charity Asthma UK, by raising awareness of the condition through his work with children.
Sam also writes as thriller author Damien Peck.
