A promotion to the show’s Script Editor set Morag on her way to a remarkable 20 year television journey working on some of the UK’s most popular shows. From script departments to producing Emmerdale, Morag spent the early part of her career on the cream of the British soaps. Following a Royal Television Society Award as producer of Granada TV’s Children’s Ward, Morag was instrumental in creating the series Family Affairs, the first British 5 day per week soap, for Grundy/Channel 5.
In 1999, Morag joined the cult children’s show Byker Grove as Producer at a time when the show’s audience numbers were falling. Morag was instrumental in creating a new look for the programme, creating dramatic stories and raising viewing figures which culminated in a BAFTA nomination.
Following this success, Morag took a sabbatical from television becoming a tutor, working with young adults with learning and physical difficulties and disengaged school students.
In 2007, Morag returned to TV production as a Series Producer with BBC Scotland’s River City, but has continued to teach and mentor.
