Lee studied at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music, in Italy and at the Royal Northern College of Music, following her days as a pupil at Lomond School. Whilst at the RNCM Lee won the Joyce and Michael Kennedy Strauss Prize, the Webster Booth Award and the Dame Eva Turner Award.
In 2003/4 she attended the National Opera Studio where she was sponsored by English National Opera. She has sung principal roles for, amongst others, Scottish Opera, Northern Ireland Opera, Longborough Festival Opera, Grange Park Opera and Opera North; and sung recitals or concerts in all the major UK concert venues including the Royal Albert Hall, St. John’s Smith Square and the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall.
Lee believes that the Heroes Centre plan to turn a deserted Victorian warehouse in the town into a four storey state-of-the-art digital media and entertainment centre will help to widen access to the arts.
